Babywearing Yoga Series

Babywearing Yoga - 4 Class Series

Join us for this fun, nourishing class to help you ease back into movement without having to leave baby behind. Babywearing yoga is a combination of fun, gentle, & effective postnatal exercise plus the convenience & benefits of babywearing. You’ll wear your baby as you move through nurturing, accessible yoga postures designed to help you thrive as a new mom.

Yoga is well-documented as an effective method for reducing stress, strengthening and mobilizing the body, and connecting us more deeply to our mind, body, and soul. Yoga and babywearing are a natural fit, and together they can help mom and baby develop a lifelong love of mindful movement.

Benefits of Babywearing Yoga

  • Beautiful bonding experience – when moms and babies cuddle, magic happens! Babywearing supports the well being of both baby and momma.

  • Ease back into movement – most fitness classes are not designed for the sensitive needs of new moms. We know how to help you nurture your postpartum body.

  • Establish a lifelong love of movement – Exercise creates endorphins for Mom, and baby will feel you thrive as you move.

  • Safe, Welcoming Environment – We’re all moms. If you need to remove your baby from the carrier, nurse/feed your baby (breastfeeding welcome!), change a diaper, or anything else, we’re here to support you.

Participants can expect to:

  • Address the common aches and pains of new motherhood

  • Gain strength and stamina to improve comfort and increase longevity in babywearing

  • Gather physical, mental, and emotional tools you can integrate into daily life to support you through motherhood.

  • Build connection to and appreciation for the physical changes of motherhood

  • Socialize with other new moms

  • Become more in-tune with baby's physical cues

  • Self-care in a supportive, nurturing environment

Frequently Asked Questions

  • q-iconWho should attend?

This class is open to all parents/caregivers of infants. All fitness levels are welcome and no yoga experience is required. Please keep in mind that physical activity is not recommended immediately following birth, and all moms should check with their postnatal care provider before taking this or any exercise class.

  • q-iconWhat age does my child need to be?

This class is not designed for the needs of active toddlers. While the room is specifically designed for safe, comfortable *adult* exercise, the space is not toddler-proofed. Babies who would demand to get out of the carrier and crawl/walk around won’t be a good fit. Moms with babies younger than 4-6 weeks old typically haven’t been cleared by their doctor or midwife for exercise, so please keep that in mind and discuss your readiness for physical activity before joining.

  • q-iconWhat if I'm unsure about Babywearing?

Our instructor is proficient in babywearing and can help you with your questions and concerns. One of the biggest benefits of this class is that it will help you grow more comfortable moving with your baby. We’re confident that by the end of the series, you’ll feel right at home wearing your baby!

  • q-iconWhat baby carrier should I bring?

The best baby carrier to use is the one that you are most comfortable with, though it’s okay to feel unsure. One of the benefits of this class is that you’ll grow more confident moving with baby in tow. Sling, wrap, or soft-structured carrier–all can work!

  • q-iconWhat if my baby gets fussy during class?

No problem at all. One of the benefits of the class is that we’re all parents. If you need to remove your baby from the carrier, nurse/feed your baby (breastfeeding welcome!), change a diaper, or anything else, we’re here to support you. You are welcome to simply sit down on your mat and care for your child, or exit the yoga room and find a space in which you are comfortable.

  • q-iconWhat Do I Need To Bring?

Just you, your carrier, your baby, and whatever baby needs for an hour on the go! We will have mats and props set up for your practice before you arrive. Many parents simply set their diaper bag right by their mat so if they need a diaper, paci, or anything else, it’s within reach. This class is super accomodating to the needs of new parents and their infants. Expect no pretense or stuffiness! Just practical, fun movement.

  • q-iconCan I use my regular class pass for this series?

This is a speciality class with a different structure than our regular classes, so we cannot accept previously purchased class passes for this series. However, all regular class passes are good for a full 12 months from the date of purchase–and please remember that all three of our regular weekly classes are a prenatal/postnatal mix–so we’d love to have you join in our regularly scheduled classes within that time frame. Additionally, pass holders receive a discount on this and all specialty courses.
