While you’ll never hear us talking about “getting your body back”–we think your body is IMPROVED by becoming a mother–we understand that women deal with very real issues after the incredible feat of growing and birthing a baby.
Core dysfunction, incontinence, back and pelvic pain, general weakness and fatigue, anxiety and depression, and more are super common in new moms, so we’ve designed our classes to help reduce the likelihood and severity of those common complaints.
Everything we do in class in “core-safe” so that we don’t exacerbate diastasis recti. We weave in pelvic floor strengthening and relaxation exercises throughout class. We teach stress coping and relief techniques that work in every facet of your life. Perhaps most importantly, we educate and empower our clients so they are prepared for the challenging road ahead.
Becoming a parent is perhaps the single biggest life change most of us will ever experience. While incredibly enriching and rewarding, it can also be scary, isolating, and overwhelming.
Our classes serve as a bastion of empowerment and support for our clients. For many, our classes are only time clients are surrounded by others on the journey to and through motherhood. We cannot overstate how critical the support of other women can be! Additionally, we are plugged in to the wider birth community and know all the best doulas, specialist providers, and more.
We’ve worked with hundreds of expectant women in our careers, and we have a wealth of tips, tricks, and support to offer. We are confident we can serve as an invaluable tool of connection and support in your journey!
Most people know what a typical Yoga class is like, but what is Tulsa Prenatal Yoga like?
We focus your practice on evidence based approaches, thoughtfully creating classes that ease the discomforts of pregnancy, prepare your body for the work of labor & delivery (both vaginal and c-section) and set you up for a quicker and more complete recovery postpartum
Whether you were a marathon runner pre-pregnancy or you're new to exercising, you're in the right place. Our expertly designed classes balance the needs of new and seasoned yogis to train your body and mind for the specific needs of pregnancy
We focus on perinatal specific core & pelvic health, stamina, endurance, strengthening, mobility, training your breath for birth, and of course, stress relief and relaxation
We've incorporated the most helpful styles of yoga into our classes, from vinyasa to restorative, plus added elements from other disciplines like pilates, strength-training, and more. You'll experience a holistic workout that will maximize your benefits without having to seek out multiple classes.
Can I try it before signing up?
Absolutely! New clients will schedule their first class here on our website, then pay after the class. This helps you decide which package is best for you with the benefit of already having experienced class.
When should I start classes?
Our classes are expertly designed to balance the needs of every stage of pregnancy, so it is never too early or too late to start. We recommend that you discuss exercise with your doctor or midwife and begin classes ASAP. While the benefits are cumulative and more is (almost) always better, even just a few classes can make a big difference in how you feel.
What do I need for class?
We recommend bringing water and wearing clothes that are easy to move in. We have mats to borrow and all the equipment you'll need.
If I've never done yoga before, what do I need to know?
First, we're excited to have you! Many of our clients are new to yoga, so if you have little to no yoga experience, don't worry, you won't be alone. We provide clear instruction and are always available to answer your questions. Everything we do in class is designed with beginners in mind.
Where are you located?
Tulsa Prenatal Yoga hosts classes at Motion Tulsa, located at 6513 E 46th St in Tulsa.
What COVID precautions are you taking?
▪️FRESH AIR - We monitor our co2 levels and keep them close to that of the outdoors (between 400-500ppm) by openly our large bay doors at least partially in every class. In other words, our practice space has lots of fresh air, close to what you would have in an outdoor environment. You can read more about co2 levels and viral transmission here. We recommend dressing in layers for class because while we do keep the heat/AC pumping, there will be a draft from the open doors.
▪️MASKS - Masks can safely be worn throughout class, and we encourage you to read the CDC recommendations and follow their guidance. Lisa and Beth wear masks throughout class.
▪️LIMITED ATTENDANCE - We restrict class size so that we do not have crowding. We space mats before each class. We recommend booking now for your next classes as they can fill quickly. Please review our cancellation policy (find it on our booking site here).
▪️SANITIZED EQUIPMENT - We launder blankets and bolster covers after each use, and sanitize mats and blocks with a commercial virucide. You are also welcome to bring your own equipment. Let us know if you have questions about what you might need.
Please know that these precautions could change at any time based on the recommendations from our health officials. We are so grateful for your support and willingness to prioritize the health and safety of the community!
But you have to take the first step on your own. Schedule a class today. With the power of our class behind you, you can work towards a happier, healthier pregnancy & delivery.
